Heading through Russia, on the Trans Siberian Railway.

A few days ago, we took a taxi from the railway station to the hotel at Lake Baikal. Nadia, became friendly with the taxi driver. One thing leads to another, and yesterday morning we found ourselves, being invited at the taxi driver parents home.
We were welcomed in the most heartfelt way. The kitchen table was filled with local food. Fresh fish was caught from the river nearby, which we were shown how to eat in the appropriate way. First to skin the fish, and then gently you suck off its soft textured flesh. The fish was served raw, pickled in salt. Vodka was offered, and accepted by many. Fresh potatoes from their garden were presented nicely, with chives chopped finely on top of the potatoes. Bread was baked and hot tea was served.
After breakfast we were brought to the river nearby and went for a walk.
When time came saying good bye, Vera and her husband waved to us from the distance, and we all were touched by emotions and how wonderful our getting together was.
This has become another day to be remembered.
